NHS Digital

Better connected healthcare

When we started working with them, the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) was the national provider of information, data and IT systems for commissioners, analysts and clinicians in health and social care. And with improvements in healthcare increasingly driven by digital technology and communications, they were doing vitally important work. But their bit-of-a-mouthful name and a lack of clarity and coherence in their identity weren’t doing a good job of communicating this. From our research, the first suggestion to emerge was a change of name, to the much more direct and altogether snappier NHS Digital. Building on this, we set to work to create a bold and coherent new look that would help them tell their sometimes complex story strongly and succinctly, across a wide range of applications and audiences. Based around the concept of creating connections, our solution elegantly reflected their embrace of digital technology, and their mission of making data transparent. We also provided guidance on the use of a strapline, co-branding and tone of voice.
